We process personal data on the following grounds:

• Contract: to deliver the Service you requested.
• Legitimate interests: to secure platforms, prevent abuse, and improve features without overriding your rights.
• Consent: for optional features like marketing communications or storing additional practice data; you can withdraw consent at any time.

4. Voice & AI Processing

When you send voice notes during a chat session or pronunciation drill, we capture audio, create transcripts, and generate acoustic features so we can score your attempt and offer pronunciation tips. Trusted third-party providers (speech-to-text, text-to-speech, and large-language-model vendors) process this audio only to supply assessment and feedback on our behalf; they do not retain the audio after the response is returned.

On-device pronunciation scoring. Pronunciation drills and vocabulary practice score your attempt locally on your device before any audio leaves it. Detailed coaching feedback is the only step that may send your recording to a trusted provider, and only when your attempt needs it. Practice on a flaky connection still works for the basic score.

Help improve Cher's Voice (opt-in). The first time you use a scoring feature, we ask whether you want to help improve our pronunciation feedback by letting us keep your practice recordings together with the expected text and your scores. You can say yes or no, and you can change your mind at any time in Settings — opting out does not affect scoring; we just stop saving the audio. We never sell this data, share it with advertisers, or use it for any purpose outside improving the service.

If you'd like us to delete recordings we've already saved, email contact@chersllc.com and we will action your request within 30 days.

5. Cookies & Analytics

We use essential cookies for authentication and session continuity, plus optional analytics (e.g., to measure page load times). Most browsers allow you to clear or block cookies; however, our Service may not function properly without essential cookies. Where legally required, we will request your consent before enabling non-essential tracking.

7. Security

We apply encryption in transit, access controls, monitoring, and secure development practices. No online service is completely secure, so we also encourage you to use strong passwords, protect devices, and log out from shared machines.

8. International Transfers

Your information may be stored or processed in countries outside The Gambia. When we move data internationally, we rely on contractual safeguards and industry-standard security to protect your information and rights.

9. Data Retention

We retain personal data while your account remains active and for a reasonable period afterwards to maintain backups, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes. You can request deletion at any time; once fulfilled, core identifiers and content are removed unless law requires us to keep limited records.

10. Your Choices & Rights

You may request access to the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct inaccurate details, delete your account, obtain a portable copy of your information, or withdraw consent for optional processing. 11. Children

The Service is intended for learners aged 16 or older. If we learn that a child under 16 has provided data without parental consent, we will delete the account and associated personal information.

12. Updates to This Policy

We may revise this Privacy Policy to reflect new features, partners, or legal requirements. Updated versions will be posted on this page and, for material changes, we will notify you via email or in-app message. Continued use after changes take effect means you acknowledge the updated policy.
